Some weeks ago, LettucePets.com ran the cutest dog clippers ads on Facebook. They showcased a poodle being tidied up and the instructional voiceover showed how to neatly clip a poodle’s paw, how to use an attachment made to clip a paw’s underside to define toe beans, a nail grinder, and another attachment to easily trim curly tummy hair. It took me several views and deciding my other clippers weren’t as specialized before choosing to buy the Whisper Trim Deluxe set with 4 different blades.
On Tuesday, September 24, after who knows how many watches, I pressed Shop Now on its Facebook ad page, paid $49.98 ($44.99 for the clippers & $4.99 shipping), and received an email thanking me for my purchase with an order number.
Surprise!
My order 45237 was delivered on Saturday, September 28. I was thrilled for our Shih-Poo Gidget who needs tidying. Over the years, we have had many poodles and poodle mixes as part of our family. A few years ago, I invested in a nice grooming table, followed by straight and curved grooming scissors, combs, brushes, corded and cordless clippers, and nail trimmers. I’d been show clipping 1000-pound horses for years, how difficult could it be to learn what dogs need? I looked forward to adding the Whisper Trim Deluxe set with 4 different blades to my collection.
I opened the “clippers” box to find a gun. OK, an automatic electric water gun! Not pet clippers!

Crickets
Minutes after I opened the box, I emailed its customer service with the subject line: Big Problem.
Touting a 24/7 professional service team, the LettucePets.com customer service page had a “contact us” email - service@lettucepets.com. I don’t know why, because it was neither 24 hours, 7 days a week, nor professional. It was crickets.
Why not report it to Facebook?
Oh, please! While I enjoy social media, I’ve learned about thinking it will solve anything. See my post:
Kicked off Facebook & its friends
I love to talk with people. Always have. Still do, although in my “old age” I’ve learned the value of meditation, being quiet, listening to my self-talk, and savoring my alone time, too. Social media can be such fun for us of the extrovert persuasion. It’s a convenient way to stay connected with friends and family who don’t live next door, just down the…
That said, I did try reaching out to Facebook for help. The thing is, pressing the button in the LettucePets.com ad took me to its site and Facebook shows no record of my purchase. No record. No help.
It pays to shop around.
I found Lettuce Pets is selling the Whisper Trim Deluxe set with 4 different blades on Amazon for $19.99 with $4.99 shipping. <big eye roll>
Usually, I look for deals and price comparisons. I’m not sure why I didn’t this time. I suppose there’s some reason I was mesmerized by the Lettuce Pet campaign on Facebook. IDK
Call me crazy
Irritated at zero reply, I did another Google search on October 31 and found an additional customer service email address - service@cabbagepets.com - and am reaching out again. Hope springs eternal.
For the right family, I’m sure this water gun makes an excellent holiday or birthday gift.
Well that’s annoying. But I love the quilt in the background 👍😁 Hope you get a resolution
