This December’s full moon sits in the Gemini constellation, and it is delightful. Characteristic of all full moons, it’s perfectly round, pearly white, and the showstopper of the evening sky.
Some astrophotographers I know routinely complain about Luna and how she interferes with their planet, star-gazing, and deep-space pursuits. <eyeroll> Whatever. How could you not love her shine and the moon's shadow cast?
This snap was taken with my iPhone 13 mini while doing morning chores on my farm in southeastern Arizona. The predawn was cold, crisp, and clear. Jupiter is visible in the evening, and Venus is the morning star.
The winter solstice is December 21, and after the longest night of 2024, the daylight hours grow a bit longer each day in this hemisphere. I love that, too.
